How do they get to Student Dashboard? Do admins need to turn it on? Parents were mentioned several times, so does that mean a student's parent(s) can also view the Student Dashboard? If so, how?
Students can get to Student Dashboard at app.mystudentdashboard.com and log in with their school Google credentials. All Hāpara schools will have access to Student Dashboard beginning the week of July 6th, there's no need for an admin to turn anything on. If parents would like to view the Student Dashboard, they can sign in with their child's school Google credentials, but there is not a separate parent view at this time.
Do teachers have the capability to view the student dashboard? Oftentimes parents and students have questions that necessitate teachers to see what they were asking or confused with.
There is not a teacher or parent view. Teachers don't need access to Student Dashboard because it's pulling from what they are already doing in Workspace, Google Classroom, Gmail and Drive.
Is this an add-on feature or is it included in all subscriptions? If it is an add-on, what is the cost?
This is included in the Hāpara subscription and will be available July 6th!
The above link to learn more about Student Dashboard does not work; it takes you to a page not found announcement.
Thanks for pointing this out! We are working quickly to resolve this issue.
Yes I am curious. Parents are mentioned a lot your pitch. Can you give an example of what parents see in comparison to the daily/weekly Google Classroom update they already get? How is this different than Google Classroom's "View My Work" and Calendar?
If parents log in with their child's school Google credentials, they will see everything covered in the video, but there is not a separate parent view yet. This differs from "View My Work" and Calendar because it brings all classwork from all Google Classrooms into one hub. It also gives students access to their Hāpara Workspace assignments, emails with teachers, and recent Google Drive files. With Student Dashboard, learners don't have to check multiple classrooms and applications to find everything they need.
How does this connect to the student's Google Classrooms? We load all of our student classes into Hapara, but teachers create Google Classrooms separate and students simply join them by code currently. What would we have to do to have those included?
You don't have to do anything! Hapara looks at the student's school issued Google account, the same one that is loaded in Hapara, and looks to see if there are any Google Classrooms attached. If there are, they show up in Student Dashboard. Student Dashboard pulls information from Google without teachers or admins needing to do any additional work.
Hapara looks like a easy solution to student learning from home.
Can you use the Google Classroom/Hapara sync just for the teacher useage? Do students have to use the Hapara student dashboard if the Google Classroom/Hapara sync?
I was wondering when a teacher send a direct message to a student (not an email) how that appears on the student screen? Does a student need to have their student dashboard opened for the message to appear?
Students do not need to have student dashboard open, they just need to be logged into Chrome with their school email. The message will come through as a Chrome notification
Can students send teachers messages?
At the moment, no, we do not have bi-directional chat.
